My Chevy: Show and Tell Us About Your Chevy Experiences
We can probably all agree that the past few weeks have been pretty exhausting for fans of General Motors.
But one of the positive aspects of all the distressing news coming out of Detroit has been the outpouring of love we’ve received for GM’s century-long history of great products and cutting-edge design.
For that, we’re truly grateful.
We thought it would be fun if we all shared some of the love here on FYI. And we want you to be a part of it. As a celebration of GM’s core brands, today we’re kicking off the first in a series of events to showcase the very Best of GM - through your photos.
For the next week, we’re asking that you take your favorite photos of Chevy products (scan them if you need to) and post them to Flickr.com. Tag them “MyChevy,” so we can find them. Over the next several weeks, we’ll do the same thing with the other GM brands.
Please don’t forget to include a caption telling us about your Chevy what it has meant to you and your family. You can also email your submissions to editor@gmblogs.com.
Chevy Manager Ed Peper will pick his favorite photos, and we’ll compile the Top 12 into a 2010 calendar, which we’ll send out to the winners. - Will Stewart, Blog Editor

And if you would like to recommend your favorite photo with a GM car or
truck in it, put it up on Flickr and tag it with “gmfyi.”
Keep Up with GM on Twitter
By Christopher Barger
Director, Social Networking
It’s been hard to miss Twitter in the news and in pop culture for the past several months. The microblogging site has played a critical role in providing information to the people of Iran during their protests of the recent election results. On a much more trivial but only slightly less visible note, celebrities from Aston Kutcher to Oprah Winfrey have used Twitter to much fanfare.
What’s the point? What can you really do in 140 characters or less? The answer’s different for each Twitter user – or for every company that has waded in trying to find value in or provide it to the community. For General Motors, Twitter is an opportunity to connect with individual people – to provide information, to ask questions, to address concerns, to listen. It’s not the end-all perfect communications tool – and we certainly don’t believe ourselves to be any “cooler” for being out there! – but it does provide us one excellent medium to engage consumers. If one of the criticisms of GM has been that we don’t listen to consumers, then we owe it to ourselves as we reinvent our company to use the channels available to us to be more responsive and connected with “real people.”
Hopefully, you’re following our main Twitter presence, @GMBlogs. But did you know that there are almost 100 GM employees who’ve joined the Twitter community? Some of us have been out there for a while now; others have just gotten started and are just beginning to really get plugged in. We thought that you might be interested in following the people of GM on Twitter as well as what we’re doing from a corporate standpoint. So here’s our current list of GM people on Twitter. Give us a follow, come say hi, and talk with us!
