From time to time we all say to ourselves, “Maybe I should trade in my truck for the new model.” You know, the one with more horsepower, better mpg, better interior space and an all-new design... but ultimately, the allure of the new loses out to the comfort and security of the old and you decide to keep it for another year or two, maybe more… But somewhere in the back of your mind, the new one is still on the radar screen and eventually you decide to go for it. So you talk to your dealer and he actually makes you a decent offer for your baby. But as you turn it over in your head, you get a nagging feeling that while it’s a fair deal, your truck is somehow worth more…

So you decide to buy the new one, but keep the old one too – after all, your kids learned to drive on it and you know exactly how to back the hitch up to the boat before towing it to the lake every summer. While the dealer’s offer is fair, it can’t come close to compensating you for the bond you’ve created with your truck. It’s become a part of your daily life and maybe even somehow a part of your family…

Now Chevrolet has created a club for full sized, Chevy pickup truck lovers with more than 200,000 miles on their odometer called the ”Silverado 200,000 Mile Club”. If your full-sized Chevy pickup truck has gone more than 200,000 miles and plays an integral part of your daily life -- tell us all about it at www.chevrolet.com/200k.

Meanwhile Karen Catchpole and Eric Mohl, a husband & wife journalist team, are heading out this week for a year-long drive in their 2006 Chevrolet Silverado to reconnect with America and also help find the most dependable, longest-lasting Chevy Silverados and their owners. More info is available on their web site.

Stay tuned to hear more about these efforts and read some cool stories about how people have been using their trucks. Chevrolet will acknowledge the top trucks and their owners at a major event at the Texas State Fair in Dallas, Texas, that begins on September 29th, 2006. That’s where Chevrolet will unveil the all-new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Yes, the truck I referred to at the beginning of this post, you know, the new one with more horsepower, better mpg, better interior space and an all-new design… We know you’re going to love it, but we suspect there’s a good chance that you won’t be happy with the dealer’s offer on your trade-in… Our suggestion: keep both!

My step dad has a special relationship with his 1970 C/10 pickup. This thing has been through its share of tough time and been tranformed on a couple of occasions over the last couple decades. I've got to admit that I myself am envious of his truck and I'm looking forward to having something similar as I get older. I want my son to see me in the same situation with my truck - I can't wait until he is able to ask me to borrow it for something.

I have been thinking about trading our old Silverado for a newer one. But it seems like our trusty old truck has its own share of charm that I could not afford to let go of it. I would be glad to share my Silverado experience. More information about the 200,000 Mile Club could be found at http://spaces.msn.com/autobuzzer/blog/cns!B4DA1D84A38D9F48!201.entry.

We have a Silverado 1500 ('89) with more than 300,000 miles. It's been a tough truck, not having one single major repair other than to repair damage from accidents and regular maintenence. That said, I will look forward to purchasing a new '07, and hopefully you can pull the same tricks with it as you did the Tahoe! It is the best-looking SUV out there, save the GMC and the Cadillac versions. Tell Bob to keep it up, and oh yeah, build the Camaro! I want mine to be a Z28, and I'll pull it to the track with a 2500HD Duramax '07 Silverado!

I traded in my 1990 Silverado with 377,000 miles on it for a 2004 Silverado. I have 41,000 miles on the 2004 and am looking forward to joining the 200k club.

Not a silverado but i've got a 360,000 mile S-10 that took me through highschool and college. Still looks great today, i'll never part with it to many memories. Still has original engine and trans (i've never touched either, and thats something you NEVER see)

I bought my '96 Silverado last summer, the Friday of July 4th weekend. I called the seller to ask about the truck, but when I asked him about the mileage, he said that I needed to come and look at it and drive it. It looked great and the owner had bought it new. It was well maintained and after driving it I was convinced it was the right truck for me, even though it had 250,000 miles on it. Saturday morning we loaded all of our stuff and headed north to the Traverse City region for the holiday. I had no reservations about the trucks worthiness for thew trip. It has performed admirably ever since. I am a principal at asmall Catholic school, and we just returned from our trip to Florida on Easter Break. 2,600 miles and it burned 1/2 quart of oil and got 20 mpg. What a smooth, affordable, and dependable vehicle. I hope to get many more miles out of it.

I'm surprised that any of you would endorse a truck that has drum brakes on the rear of the pickup, a way way inferior motor (even on the 07), a frame that is paper thin, and ZERO metal framing forward of the passenger cab. Thank goodness they're finally endorsing SOME of these problems with the 07. Maybe in another 10 years they can make something that the Ford F-Series made 10 years ago.

I have a 96 Suburban 1500 w/5.7 vortec, it had 163,000 miles on it when I bought it, it now has 213,000. I have replaced several fuel pumps in the tank, a water pump, compressor, and starter, it has the original engine and trans and uses no oil. I hammer the throttle everyday, and it just keeps going. Get's 15 mpg at 75-80 with air conditioning on. The F-150 250,000 mile claim is deceptive. I'd like to speak to a few of those F-150 owners, especially those with automatic transmissions! Oh, if we could just see the repair records for those quarter million mile Fords!

I have a 1998 Chevy W/T with a vortec 6 cyl. The truck now has 244,000+ miles. Does this qualify for membership?

I have 3 Chevy Silvarados and I wouldn't trade them in for the world. Look foward to checking out the new one.

I owned Ford F150's and ran them up to 150,000 miles and I had Chevy Truck as well. I liked my early F150 Trucks but something about the 2004 Silverado just pulled me in for a buy. I love the truck. It's fully customised and has all the bells and whistles. I get more compliments on it.
I want to say the ride in the this Chevy truck is far more superior to my previous Ford truck.
I feel comfortable to say this truck will meet your 200K truck list not long from now.
This time Chevy did it right.

My 07 Silverado has a governor set at 87 mph. How do I get more out of it without voiding warranty?

I have a 1990 chevy truck its a four wheel drive but when you put it in four wheel drive it engages but as soon as you start to move it pops out. How can i fix it and what is the best way?

I have always been a Chevy guy. Grew up on Silverados. Same with my father and my brother. But since Chevy has come out with the IFS, I have switched to Ford. When are the Silverados going back to the solid front axles???
