Today’s photo comes from the albums of pjpeery. Here’s the info on the photo:
“found this photo on the gm service form posted by techgeek01. he stated that toyota was advertising that they had 10 plants in the united states. i do hope this bill board is true and that gm put it there.”
Be sure to look at all of pjpeery’s photos and our other albums. And if you would like to recommend your favorite photo with a GM car or truck in it, put it up on Flickr and tag it with “gmfyi.”

Ten plants in Ohio is a much larger presence than Honda. Americans actually run these plants too. At Honda Japanese shadow managers have to agree to any decision of any consequence. Also, the American executive turnover at Honda’s Ohio locations is shocking. Scott Whitlock EVP, Bob Simpcox VP, Susan Insley VP, Don English VP, Charlie Baker VP, David Nelson VP, Al Kinzer VP, Ed Buker VP, and Tim Wuennemann VP, is a partial list of executives who have left.

Let the competition know the facts (or where the bear does it in the bucwheat).

They say you can hold back an elephant with a string. If you tether an elephant you can train it to stay within those limits. After that training it is said you can hold an elephant with the weakest of string.
I think about this when I see GM’s condition today. It has been trained it seems that it cannot grow or reach for certain goals, that while it has been stunted and frustrated in the past it will reach for smaller goals and remain within recent limits. Don’t get me wrong, it’s alright to set small goals and then blow away all expectations as you did with your quarterly numbers. But this is the reality, you may be missing the greatest opportunities in the history of GM. Look at the facts!
Compare the H3 to the Jeep Commander and the Toyota FJ.
Compare the Mazda Miata to the Solstice and Sky.
Compare the Holden FJ Efijy to the Chrysler 300 or the Avalon and ES300.
Compare the H3T to the Tundra and the Ridgeline.
Take the Saab Aero X, T2X, Camaro, Tahoe, new CTS and Holden Torana and compare them to their segments. You can even compare them to any segment. The FJ Efijy with its design can go head on against any luxury car out there whether it’s $50,000 or $500,000. I have been in a Porsche and I like the Solstice better already even when the Solstice is parked standing still.
Bottom line! GM you need to give yourself a fair chance and move some of these promising products to market with a little more courage, confidence and nil desperandum. Just having the Solstice sitting in the showroom, or even the thought that it may be there has increased traffic to the Pontiac showroom by 50% and pushed up G6 and Torrent sales by double digits. Imagine what the FJ Efijy can do for Buick.
There is no point in history when the products you revealed showed more promise than now. Now that you have gotten the quality equation under control the masses are waiting. Don’t think that if you try this time you will get only the same mediocre result. I am telling you the time has changed.
Your time, GM has come. It is different this time. Keep the internal design competitions up and then…
Let’s get the show on the road.
