GM and Women in Film (WIF) recently announced their second annual “Acceleration Grant for Emerging Filmmakers,” which is designed to support talented filmmakers from under-represented communities. GM’s participation in this alliance is an extension of the company’s commitment to women’s initiatives and to arts and cultural institutions.

The deadline for submitting contest entries is Sept. 1, 2006. Participants can find applications and contest guidelines at the WIF web site. A number of film industry representatives will serve as judges for the contest, with the winners being announced on Oct. 16.

Winners will receive a five-day, full-immersion mentoring program from members of WIF, which includes many of the film industry’s most successful females. This program provides networking opportunities and access to industry leaders and is designed to equip the winners with the tools to take their efforts in filmmaking to the next level.
