Today’s photo of a 1955 Chevy Bel Air hood ornament comes from the albums of Bill Strong. Here’s what he has to say about his photo:
“at Supercruise 8 sponsored by Dunnville Slowpokes Auto Club, Aug 5, 2006.”
Be sure to look at all of Bill Strong’s photos and our other albums. And if you would like to recommend your favorite photo with a GM car or truck in it, put it up on Flickr and tag it with “gmfyi.”

You shouldn’t be showing us photos like that, getting our hopes up. Don’t get me wrong everybody and their brother right now knows that GM has some great, spectacular and amazing products coming out but the questions remains will GM’s greatness be back.
I mean it’s nice that you can fill a product hole,
But where is your soul?
Will it remain hidden in the 50’s just waiting to be tapped by some savy new generation of Americans tired of being wacked over the head in this industry?
It’s a critical time for GM right now. They are at a sweet spot in their history. There is a window of opportunity with the best designers in the world proven with the Aero X and the FJ Efijy, and the best execution in the world shown with quality awards. With the support of the most savy and product friendly management team since the 50’s.
This could be GM’s golden moment. I mean I would not tell Joe CEO or Jack designer to build a modern Buick 8 or bring back the soul of GM but I will tell Lutz and Wagoner.
So we know they are great but the question is how great? I mean I could see the books being written now…
“Wagoner and Lutz and How They Saved GM: Welll Except for Buick, They Couldn’t Seem to Fix Buick, But That’s a Whole Nother Story”
by Dr. Syanara who also authored the book “1001 Ways to Kill a Brand”.
Wagoner was right he said “We are not brain dead” we will build the Camaro. If you don’t get an equal or better sensation with the Holden FJ Efigy, if you don’t think it can sell, if you don’t think it can change your fortunes check your pulse, then get an eye exam, then if everything is working properly and the FJ Efigy still does not win you over.
I think you found an endless wave pool if you know what I mean. I got a job for you in the British Isles. You can wear those big black furry hats and the red coat. I will be waving by you in the new modern British taxi cabs compiments of Holden and Buick.
