As rediculous as it may be, I am posting nearly the same comment in 2 different areas.

First, GM’s cars, on the whole with few exceptions, lack headroom, legroom, and overall spaciousness for any adult greater than six feet tall. As average sized adults grow larger in length and width (might as well sound like a car guy here)automobiles seem to incite more claustorphobic feel at best. Seats are less soft, they are shorter, but not visually uninspiring. The gaps and plastic mono-color interior trim are abysmal at best. You need a Cirque Du Soliel performer to operate the window and lock functions in a Solstice… what gives here GM?

The lack of headroom for a larger adult is miserable. The GTO was an abortion of both HSV style and grace, it was untalented due to weight control being that of a penny-racer, and further optioned out at a shocking $34,000. Taking into consideration the approximate 2 for 1 Aussie Doller to American dollar, this oncce again proves that GM watered down a product worthy of praise, doubled the price, and brought a car that was more than a simple disappointment to America.

It was the year 2000 when the HSV concepts grabbed my attention and I suggested to a friend, ” Gee, that Commodore HSV or the Monaro HSV would be just HOT here in America.” Bob Lutz must have heard me and responded.

The drivel that ensued wasn’t fit for driving around a pasture in Montana, let alone a city street.

As a GM loyalist, I am extremely concerned with the direction this company is headed.

Bob, How come Minneapolis show isn’t listed on your calender? Are you not coming? I do hope that we will not be as dissapointed this year as we where last year. This is a large show, in a good GM market, you guys really need to have a better presence! Please let me see the CTS, Volt, G8, and Convertible Camaro this weekend! Please stop short changing us!

For cryin’ out loud, Bob and people at GM: would it kill you to put a pair of Xenon headlamps on G8? Halogen is so XX century!

That is all well and good but you need to work on getting your stock price up.

To Bob Lutz- Change the tail lights on the Pontiac G-8 before it goes into production or I think it will fail in the marketplace. Can one little styling wrinkle doom a vehicle? Well, remember the vertical, oval grill on an otherwise very nice Ford product around 1957? I even liked that grill, but many did not. The tail lights on the G-8, and yes, it’s the vehicle from Austalia I’m talking about, just look horrible. One big red tail light “projector” with- and here’s the worst part- an amber turn signal running horizontally under it with a big dip in it to go under the red projector. It’s that dip that looks so bad to me. I think you can fix it without any sheet-metal changes. Just change what is under that clear outside cover over the tail light. It will be a crying shame if you put the vehicle into production with those tail lights because otherwise it looks just great. It looks like a big BMW from the front end, to me. Rear wheel drive and a V-8, I think. It will sell in big numbers IF you get the tail lights right. Look at the 2005 Nissan Altima- huge seller and largely due to beautiful tail lights. Then they modified those outrageously gorgeous tail lights slightly for 2006. Now the 2007 is a further gorgeous modification of that design. What is the problem with GM styling? It’s ART!! Hire some artists, if you have to go to Japan to find them!! God, the future of GM is riding on styling, and you STILL are capable of being utterly tone-deaf to it, as demonstrated by the G-8 tail lights. I implore you not to produce the car with the tail lights shown at the Chicago Auto Show. I am retired from GMAC’s Executive Office and wish only the very best for GM. The Saturn Aura is absolutely gorgeous, and so is the coming Buick Enclave. Ditto Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. I loved the Ion. I love the 2007 Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Gone are those “dirty amber” rear turn signals which I thought looked like hell. Toyota even poked fun at GM by making almost identical tail lights on the Tundra, but with a beautiful amber lens. It’s sort of hit or miss still on styling, and it will be a huge disaster if you go with those G-8 tail lights as shown in Chicago. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, BMW, VW, Ford, Chrysler are praying that you WILL go with them!!! Please correct this disaster before it happens!
