This week's find from the GM Media Archive is a photo of a 1965 Corvette Mako Shark II show car.

This is the car that proved that Bill Mitchell could go too far.

He took a beautiful Larry Shinoda design, the Monza SS and added so much sharpness and angularity, that Zora Duntov demanded that the peak of the front fenders be lowered, for better (safer) forward visibility, just before the car went into production. Thankfully, he got his way.

This concept started the entire era of the C3, bannana-bodied Corvettes, from '68 to '82.

It made many Vette owners want a mid-year car mor than ever, and has resulted in generally lower C3 resale values ever since.
