The 1951 LeSabre actually isn’t a Buick it was built as a Corporate property. Its design cues mirror those of the Sabre jet program developed by the French in the late 40’s and early 50’s which Harley Earl was extremely interested in. Buick took the name LeSabre some years later for its vehicle line.

It wasn’t officially called a Buick but it’s design cues were clearly those of Buick and it was more a Buick than anything else…

The engine was also from Buick and the transmission was initially a Dynaflow. The car had quite a few modifications over the years.

I first bacame acquainted with Harley Earl and the 1951 LeSabre when I was in high school (1957-1958).The subject of nt term paper as a senior was “Harley Earl.” The General Motors cars of the fifties are still my favorites and the LeSabre is, at least to me, the most beautiful car ever producted. For many years I looked for pictures of the LeSabre and now thanks to the internet I have many photos. YToo bad the car was not put into full production.
